Types of Yoga

Bikram Yoga:  This popular “hot yoga” was started in Los Angeles by Bikram Choudhury. Stemming from Hatha Yoga, this practice focuses on proper alignment. It is known for its standard 26 postures and 2 breathing exercises that are done in the same exact sequence each time for 90 minutes. It is best known for its 105°F (and 40% humidity) heated yoga studios. Bikram Yoga can only be taught by those who are officially certified as Bikram teachers. Because of these very restrictions, other styles of “hot yoga” classes have recently emerged and continue to gain popularity.
