Happy April! 

This month we have a couple of special events for you. However, we will be closed on EASTER Sunday (4/16). Wishing you all a wonderful Passover, Easter and Spring Break season. Enjoy family, friends and some sunshine!

Meditation with Mantras and Mudras
Let’ s celebrate Earth Day with a special meditation 101 workshop with Sarah McIntyre. We’ll talk about how we use our hands to create and channel the energy (prana) in our bodies and how we can use sound in healing ways. We will then practice meditating with mudras and mantras. (Approx. 90 min. workshop.)

Join us for another session of Family Acro!

Join AcroYoga instructor Kimmy Kash for a super fun day of flying with your little ones! Kids are naturals at Acro which is why they love doing it…especially with YOU! Join your child as you engage in play, imagination, fitness, therapeutics and all the giggles! No experience necessary. Class will be taught in a fun, skilled, safe & empowering manner. Kids ages 4-12 welcomed. Bring your cameras for some awesome shots.

Have you heard? 

  • PiYo class: Our next 5 week series of PiYo begins on Sunday, April 23rd. Learn “Round 38” of this unique fusion of Pilates moves and Yoga poses which will help you get Summer ready in no time. (Drop-in spots will open in May, if available.) For more info and to register, please visit our Glofox scheduling platform under “Courses.” Those who sign up for all 5 classes get a special price of just $9 per class!
  • Kids’ Yoga: Our Kid’s Yoga classes (ages 5-10 yrs) are still going strong every Thursday at 4:45pm for only $6. Classes will end on May 25th.      
  • Prenatal Yoga: We are now offering prenatal yoga on Saturdays at 10am for the month of April and May for $12 per class.
  • Candlelight Community Yoga: Our Instructors-in-Training have been taking turns practicing all they are learning. Show your support on Fridays at 5:45pm…just $5 cash only at the door. Proceeds will benefit Transformation Yoga Project!
  • Acro Sunday Funday: Our bi-weekly partner yoga classes are going strong. Final Spring dates: 4/9, 4/23, 5/7 and 5/21. AcroYoga will be taking a break for Summer.

  • Lost and Found: If you have left behind a water bottle, yoga mat or other personal item, please make sure to check the yoga studio. Items not claimed by the end of each month will be recycled. There is a lost and found located in the hot yoga ladies’ changing room, as well as a cubby in the Main Studio or see an instructor. Thank you.

  • Happy July and Happy Independence Day! Hope you are enjoying your Summer. We will be closed on Monday, 4th of July. Enjoy your holiday! Just a reminder that our most current schedule can be found online: Click Here. Don’t forget about our special Summer classes…

  • Yoga in the Park! Join us at Rockledge Park on Saturdays at 10am all Summer long. This is a donation-based class with a $5-$10 suggested minimum cash drop-in. (Class Cards may not be used.) Street parking and entrance are on Rockledge Ave. (corner of Robbins Ave.) Stop at the gazebo to check-in. Please bring your own yoga mat and water. All Levels welcomed. This month’s donations will benefit oneorlando.org. Thank you to all who have joined us so far!

  • Surfset Fitness & Yoga! Registration for our Surfset series is now closed, but we have a few spots available for drop-ins. Please contact us at least 24 hrs. in advance at twistedmonkeyyoga@gmail.com to inquire and reserve your spot. Classes run through July on Thursdays at 9:45am.   • Seasonal Sun Salutes! Thank you to all who came out to our Summer Solstice, Full Moon, and International Yoga Day Celebration. It was a magical night. Congrats to all those who completed the full 108 Sun Salutations and a big THANK YOU to all those who donated to oneorlando.org. We raised almost $150! Stay tuned for the Fall Equinox as we hope to host an 108 Sun Salutation Yoga Mala for every season. Details coming soon.
  • Full Moon Yoga! We will also be hosting special Full Moon Yoga evening classes once a month. The next Full Moon is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 19th. Stay tuned for details on our website.
  • SAVE THE DATE! Registration for The Twisted Monkey’s inaugural Yoga Retreat opens up soon. Join us this Fall on November 18th -20th for a 3 day weekend at the Himalayan Institute, located just 2 and 1/2 hours away. Details coming soon!

Types of Yoga

Raja Yoga:  The “royal path,” which is very scientific and thorough. By following this path methodically, we learn to refine our desires, emotions, and thoughts, as well as the subtle impressions ad thoughts that lie dormant in the unconscious mind. Raja yoga helps us to experience the inner reality by means of an eight-runged “ladder,” or eight steps. The ultimate goal is for the aspirant to attain the eighth rung, samadhi.

‎”It is necessary to be connected with the creative force. The connection is always there, but it is missing on the conscious level. Meditation makes that connection.  It is felt with divine realization of the creative force.”

“Meditation does not need a long time to see result.  Just begin to mediate and begin to be happy.  With practice, the intensity of the result increases. The degree of happiness also increases.  It is felt immediately from the start of practice.”

Types of Yoga

Mantra Yoga:  This practice involves meditation and the use of certain sounds called mantras. These mantras were discovered in deep meditation by highly advanced sages and teachers. They are traditionally transmitted to students, and are used as objects of concentration. Mantras help students with self-purification, concentration, and mediation.
